The Darwin Cricket Club

I was standing on a corner...

The Darwin Cricket Club, known as the Eagles, is an amateur to semi-professional cricket club based in Darwin, NT. Located at the picturesque Kahlin Oval in the inner city suburb of Larrakeyah which is a five minute walk from the CBD.

The Club has a strong history and fine tradition of producing premier cricketers to the Darwin & District Cricket Competition and NT Representative duties while also attracting first class players to the Club during the winter. Recent examples are Will Sheridan who currently represents Victoria in all formats and NZ first class bowler Andrew Mathieson from Central Districts. Tom Andrews, son of Club legend Ronnie Andrews, is currently donning the green and gold for the Australian U19's along with training in the South Australian Redbacks team.

The Eagles also take great pride in producing silverware, going back to back in 2011 and 2012 to be One Day Premiers along with the recent grand final victories in B and D grade in 2013. Our winning culture is instilled at a young age with our U17 competing in the last five grand finals.

We cater for all levels of cricket, from beginners with Milo In2Cricket held on a Friday evening during the first half of the season, juniors teams from U11's through to U17's and senior men's teams in all five grades. Premier to C grade is played on the Saturday while the D & E grade play on Sunday. The Sunday leaning more to the social side and players past their prime.

The season begins in earlier to mid April and runs to mid September. For training start times, preseason usually begins in mid Feb to early March with days and times varying and when the season is about to commence training times are from 5pm to 7pm on a Tuesday and Thursday for Seniors. Junior training times are confirmed closer to the season start date and sign on days.

The Eagles are also strong socially with at least two functions held during the regular season, a favourite being the annual Quiz Night held on a full moon in front of the Pavilion. We also hold regular fundraising events such as the BBQ stand at Bunnings and the Royal Darwin Show.
